Archaeological Inventory of Rock Art Sites in the Djelfa Region (Saharan Atlas) Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Applications –A Geo-Archaeological Approach // –"الجرد الأثري لمواقع الفن الصخري بمنطقة الجلفة (الأطلس الصحراوي) باستخدام تطبيقات نظم المعلومات الجغرافية - مقاربة أثرية جغرافية-"

Abstract

يرتكز هذا البحث على دراسة مواقع الفن الصخري في منطقة الجلفة (الأطلس الصحراوي)، وتهدف الدراسة إلى تحليل توزيع هذه المواقع ضمن مختلف التكوينات التضاريسية في المنطقة، مما يساهم في فهم الأنماط الاستيطانية والتطور الثقافي في المنطقة. ويتناول الجزء الأول من هذه الدراسة توظيف نظم المعلومات الجغرافية في جرد ودراسة 41 موقعًا أثريًا و20 محطة فنية منها 6 مواقع غير منشورة سابقًا في منطقة الجلفة، إضافةً إلى إنشاء قاعدة بيانات أثرية جغرافية متكاملة مكّنت من إجراء تحليلات كمية ونوعية تكشف عن التنوع والثراء في المواضيع والأساليب الفنية والتمثيلية وتعكس التحولات الكرونو-ثقافية في المنطقة، كما أفضت هذه الدراسة إلى إنتاج خرائط موضوعاتية توضّح الخصائص الجغرافية والتوزيع الفضائي لمواقع الفن الصخري التي تم تحديدها، إلى جانب خرائط تعرض التوزيع الفضائي لمختلف أنواع التمثيلات الفنية في منطقة الدراسة، مما ساهم في تحقيق فهم أعمق لعلاقة هذه المواقع بالسياقين البيئي والجغرافي وفهم أنماط التفاعل بين الإنسان والمحيط المجاور له وكذا العوامل التي أثرت على اختيار مواقع استقراره وإنتاجه الفني. أما الجزء الثاني من الدراسة، تم إعداد كتالوج شامل يوثّق 823 تمثيلًا فنيًا، مدعومًا بصور توثيقية ورفع أثري، مع تحديد تقنية تنفيذ كل تمثيل وأسلوبه التمثيلي، بحيث يقدّم هذا الكتالوج كقاعدة بيانات مرجعية قابلة للتطوير، تدعم الدراسات التحليلية المستقبلية واستراتيجيات الحفظ والترميم، مما يضمن استدامة هذا التراث الثقافي للأجيال القادمة.

This research focuses on the study of rock art sites in the Djelfa region (Saharan Atlas). The study aims to analyze the distribution of these sites across the various geomorphological formations of the region, contributing to a better understanding of settlement patterns and cultural development in the region. The first part of this study explores the integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the inventory and analysis of 41 archaeological sites and 20 rock art stations in the Djelfa region, including six previously unpublished sites. A comprehensive archaeological-geographical database was developed, enabling both quantitative and qualitative analyses that reveal the diversity and richness of artistic themes, techniques, and representations. These analyses provide insight into chrono-cultural transformations in the region. Additionally, the study resulted in the production of thematic maps illustrating the geographical characteristics and spatial distribution of the identified rock art sites. Further mapping of the spatial distribution of various types of artistic representations within the study area has contributed to a deeper understanding of the relationship between these sites and their environmental and geographical contexts. This, in turn, sheds light on patterns of human interaction with the surrounding landscape and the factors influencing site selection and artistic production. The second part of the study presents a comprehensive catalog documenting 823 artistic representations, supported by photographic documentation and archaeological surveys. Each representation has been classified according to its execution technique and artistic style. This catalog provides a referential database that can be expanded to support future analytical studies and conservation strategies, ensuring the long-term preservation of this cultural heritage for future generations.

Cette recherche porte sur l’étude des sites d’art rupestre dans la région de Djelfa (Atlas saharien). Elle vise à analyser la répartition de ces sites au sein des différentes formations géomorphologiques de la région, contribuant ainsi à la compréhension des modèles d’occupation humaine et de l’évolution culturelle dans la région.

La première partie de cette étude concerne l’utilisation des systèmes d’information géographique (SIG) pour l’inventaire et l’étude de 41 sites archéologiques et 20 stations d’art rupestre, dont 6 sites inédits dans la région de Djelfa. Une base de données archéologique et géographique intégrée a été créée, permettant de réaliser des analyses quantitatives et qualitatives qui révèlent la diversité et la richesse des thèmes, des styles artistiques et des représentations. Ces analyses reflètent également les transformations chrono-culturelles de la région. L’étude a en outre abouti à la production de cartes thématiques illustrant les caractéristiques géographiques et la distribution spatiale des sites d’art rupestre identifiés, ainsi que des cartes représentant la répartition des différents types de représentations artistiques dans la zone étudiée. Ces résultats ont permis une meilleure compréhension de la relation entre ces sites et leurs contextes environnemental et géographique, ainsi que des interactions entre l’homme et son milieu, et des facteurs ayant influencé le choix des lieux d’habitat et de création artistique. La deuxième partie de l’étude consiste en l’élaboration d’un catalogue exhaustif documentant 823 représentations artistiques, accompagnées de photographies et de relevés archéologiques, avec la description des techniques d’exécution et des styles de représentation. Ce catalogue constitue une base de données de référence évolutive, susceptible de soutenir les études analytiques futures et les stratégies de conservation et de restauration, garantissant ainsi la pérennité de ce patrimoine culturel pour les générations à venir
