يرجع تميّز الزبيري إلى تكوينه العلمي المتوازن، حيث جمع بين التعليم التقليدي في الكتاتيب والمساجد، والتعليم العصري في المدارس الفرنسية، مما مكّنه من امتلاك ثقافة موسوعية انعكست بوضوح في إنتاجه الفكري، واتسم أسلوبه بالعمق والتحليل، ما جعله يحظى بتقدير كبار المؤرخين والباحثين.

Abstract:
This study explores the figure of historian and freedom fighter Dr. Mohamed Larbi Zebiri, one of the leading pioneers of historical writing in contemporary Algeria. It aims to shed light on his scholarly and intellectual journey through an analytical study of his book "The Contemporary History of Algeria – Volume One," which is considered a key reference in documenting national history.
Zebiri's distinction lies in his balanced educational background, which combined traditional learning in Qur'anic schools and mosques with modern education in French institutions. This unique combination enabled him to acquire an encyclopedic knowledge base that clearly shaped his intellectual output. His writing style is marked by depth and analytical rigor, earning him the respect of prominent historians and researchers.
The study focuses on his active role in establishing the foundations of the Algerian historical school. His works reflect a deep-rooted national consciousness, manifested through his objective documentation of Algeria’s modern and contemporary history. He consistently sought to challenge colonial narratives and to present historical truths from an independent national perspective.
