Abstract

الملخص: يعالج موضوع هذه الدراسة الموسومة "يحي الغزال الجياني (156 – 250 هـ) حياته ونشاطه الديبلوماسي" شخصية يحي بن الحكم الغزال الجياني، أحد أعلام الأندلس البارزين في عصر الإمارة الأموية، والذي جمع بين الأدب والديبلوماسية، فكان شاعرا بارزا وسفيرا محنكا مثل الدولة الأموية في عدد من السفارات المهمة، وتهدف الدراسة إلى إبراز جوانب حياته والتعريف بمكانته الأدبية والعلمية، مع التركيز على نشاطه الديبلوماسي ودوره في توطيد العلاقات الخارجية للأندلس، فبينت الدراسة الأخبار المتعلقة بسفارته الى كل من الإمبراطورية البيزنطية و النورمان، وبيان الظروف السياسية التي أحاطت بها، إضافة الى بيان الخصائص التي تميز بها الغزال في عمله الديبلوماسي. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن يحيى الغزال كان يتمتع بحنكة وذكاء سياسي مكَّنه من أداء مهامه بكفاءة، كما أظهرت أن نشاطه الديبلوماسي ساهم في تقوية مكانة الدولة الأموية بالأندلس، كما بينت الدراسة أن شخصية الغزال مثلت نموذجًا للسفير الأندلسي الذي جمع بين الثقافة والفصاحة والقدرة على التفاوض، وهو ما جعل أثره يتجاوز الجانب السياسي إلى الحضاري والثقافي. الكلمات المفتاحية: يحي الغزال – الأندلس – السفارة – الديبلوماسية – الإمبراطورية البيزنطية– النورمان.

Abstract : The subject of this study, titled "Yahya al-Ghazal al-Jayyani (156–250 AH): His Life and Diplomatic Activity" deals with the personality of Yahya ibn al-Hakam al-Ghazal al-Jayyani, one of the prominent figures of Al-Andalus during the era of the Umayyad Emirate. Al-Ghazal combined literature and diplomacy, serving as both an eminent poet and a seasoned ambassador who represented the Umayyad state in several significant missions. The study aims to highlight the various aspects of his life and his literary and scholarly standing, with a particular focus on his diplomatic activities and his role in strengthening the foreign relations of Al-Andalus. The research details the accounts of his embassies to both the Byzantine Empire and the Normans (Vikings), outlining the surrounding political circumstances and the unique characteristics that distinguished Al-Ghazal in his diplomatic work. The study concluded that: • Yahya al-Ghazal possessed the political insight and intelligence that enabled him to perform his duties efficiently. • His diplomatic endeavors contributed significantly to strengthening the position of the Umayyad state in Al-Andalus. • His personality represented the ideal model of an Andalusian ambassador—combining culture, eloquence, and negotiation skills—which extended his influence beyond the political sphere into the civilizational and cultural realms.
