Wavelet transform and artificial intelligence have been applied to a wide range of problems. In medical signals, they have been used in many tasks such as feature extraction, classification and segmentation. In this work, we propose two models for brain tumor classification from MR images. The first model uses a multi-SVM classifier to classify MR images into 4 classes (glioma, meningioma, pituitary, no tumor). The model combines the undecimated wavelet transform to extract both frequency and temporal information, followed by feature extraction using a pretrained EfficientNet-B0 model. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is applied for feature selection. The multi-SVM classifier is trained based on these features, making use of the frequency and spatial information of the MR images, allowing for high accuracy. The second model uses the integration of Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT) for preprocessing, ResNet50V2 for feature extraction, and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) for classification. The preprocessing phase started with Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT), which decomposed the images into multiple frequency bands to enhance tumor-related features while reducing noise. The images were then resized to 224×224 pixels to ensure compatibility with the ResNet50V2 model. Feature extraction was performed using ResNet50V2, and the extracted features were then passed to a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network for classification into four categories: Glioma, Meningioma, Pituitary, and No Tumor. The proposed method was effective in producing a high classification accuracy rate. The proposed models are evaluated using performance metrics including accuracy, F1 score, recall and precision, on a dataset from Kaggle. The results obtained are compared with some modern methods.
