ts? The study focused on three hypotheses, namely:The extent to which the university student uses Facebook. Facebook's role in spreading environmental awareness.University students have positive attitudes towards environmental issues presented on Facebook. This current study falls within the descriptive studies, where the study was conducted on a random sample of students of the second year of Master of Communication Sociology, consisting of 48 members of the research community. This study also dealt with the reasons for choosing the topic, its importance and objectives. Concepts related to the study were defined, and a review of previous studies. Two theories were relied on: the symbolic interactive theory and the role theory. The data collection tool, which is the questionnaire technique, was also used, which included 26 questions divided into 4 axes in order to answer the problem and its questions. The field study reached a set of results, the most important of which are: - Most university students use the Internet a lot for a long time.VIII - Most university students have an account on Facebook, and they use it a lot, and it is one of the most important social sites that they prefer to use for its wide spread, ease of use and privacy. - The study showed that Facebook is an important tool and able to contribute to spreading environmental awareness. - Facebook plays a social role in the first place, then awareness and information in the second degree, then entertainment. - Facebook increases the degree of environmental awareness among university students, and this is shaped by them through cleaning campaigns, planting trees and painting on walls. It also evaluates the environmental awareness programs carried out by Facebook pages as good campaigns. Most university students have friends on Facebook who are interested in the environment.The study showed that most of the students interact with environmental publications and topics that are published on Facebook, and express their admiration, and Facebook increases their interest in these issues. - Through the results of the study and according to the students ’opinion, Facebook represents one of the most important social networking sites, as it has a great role in environmental awareness and promoting environmental awareness, especially among university students who use this technology a lot and the contributions that the latter makes in the field of preserving the environment.
