Abstract:
The species Aristida pungens Desf. plays a crucial role in stabilizing dunes in the arid and desert regions of Algeria. Seeds were collected in the Zahrez region of Djelfa and treated with four levels of salt stress (NaCl) with and without the presence of calcium chloride (CaCl2). A one-way ANOVA was adopted to test the effect of salt stress on the germination and early growth of Aristida pungens Desf. seedlings. The results showed that salt stress negatively affects seed germination and seedling growth, with a decrease in germination and growth rates as salt concentration increases. However, the addition of CaCl2 did not show a favorable or mitigating effect on salt stress. The study emphasizes the importance of appropriately managing environmental conditions to optimize the performance of seeds and seedlings in arid regions

En conclusion, l’effet de l’application du stress salin sur l’A. pungens Desf. a révélé des résultats significatifs qui rejoignent les découvertes antérieures de scientifiques tels que Al-Karaki et Al-Raddad (1997), ainsi que Munns et Tester (2008).
Les graines étudiées ont montré une sensibilité croissante aux concentrations élevées du sel, affectant négativement leur taux de germination, ainsi que leur croissance précoce. Néanmoins, l’effet conjugué du NaCl et CaCl2 N’a pas montré ni un effet favorisant ni un effet répressif vis-à-vis le stress salin.
De futures recherches sont nécessaires pour explorer plus en profondeur les voies physiologiques et biochimiques régulant la tolérance au sel chez les plantes, ainsi que pour développer des stratégies agronomiques novatrices visant à améliorer la résilience des cultures face à ces stress environnementaux
