Abstract
The waste heat from a solar-driven Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is proposed to help the carbon capture by adsorption (CCA) subsystem regenerate. The waste heat is used in a cascaded fashion, with the higher temperature component going to the CCA device and the lower temperature component being exchanged inside to boost ORC efficiency. A thermodynamic analysis is performed to evaluate the proposed system's electrical and exergy performance during 1 day of solar irradiation for the microgrid application. The investigation is carried out by linking the simulation models of each subsystem, with the effects of the ORC, turbine inlet temperature, regeneration temperature, and 𝐶𝑂2 input source all being examined.
